JulieG Jesse’s Girls Collection: Swatches & Review

Hello guys!! Its been ages since I’ve done a collection swatches and review so I’m glad to do one for Jesse’s Girl! This is indeed a new brand to me and I ordered this collection online as soon as it was available on their website. There’s a big discount for buying the entire collection so I went with that. (USD$25) Shipping was quite fast, I received these in about a week or so.

If you’re unfamiliar with this collection, this was created by JulieG, a beauty guru on Youtube! She has created her own nail polish collection and I think its a pretty good one because there’s something for everyone! I’ve been watching her videos from the start, she’s very cheerful and informative and that’s what I look for when I watch beauty-related videos! You need to check her out if you haven’t! 🙂

This is her video introducing all her nail polishes if you are interested in knowing more!

All swatches are 2 coats with no top coat. I wished she did more shimmers though because they’re super gorgeous. This collection consists of 2 shimmers and 6 cremes.

Beauty Guru is a dark musky orange and it looks like a baked orange to me! (Not that I’ve eaten or seen one!) I like this one, the oranges I own are mostly brights or neon and its kinda interesting to see a musky one.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Fashion Friday is an gorgeous red-toned purple, very flattering! Its the colour of JulieG’s background when she makes videos when she’s sitting down and doing one of her makeup videos! I believe this is quite an exact match and I like it!

Photobucket

Photobucket

All Things Girly is a red-toned peach. This isn’t one of my top picks for this collection at all because it doesn’t look good against my skin and the formula was horrible! It was streaky and really thick! I guess I had to bring out my Seche Restore if I’m using it next time.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Stiletto is a light taupe with subtle silver shimmer. It kinda looks something in between purple and grey. A very office appropriate colour and a very unique one at that! I’ve never seen anything like this colour and I’m glad I own this one now!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Cupcake Frosting is a hot fuchsia, nothing very special actually so I’m gonna just keep this description short and sweet, haha!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Party Dress is a red-toned coral, very beautiful and flattering on my skintone. Love this!! I actually have this as my pedi right now and I love the great pop of colour.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Girls Night Out is a medium cobalt blue, very striking and much darker than pictured. Again, not a very unique polish but I’m surprised that this wasn’t an exact dupe of Barry M Cobalt Blue! I might do a comparison if you guys request :>

Photobucket

Photobucket

Mermaid’s Lagoon is a dark teal with subtle golden-red shimmer. Its more like a sprinkle of fairy dust of some sort in the polish, the shimmer is really pretty and dazzling! My camera kinda freaked out on this colour but I swear this colour is super gorgeous in real life! It is much more greener than pictured, not as turquoise as what the photo depicts.

As a whole, I had no issues with the formula except for All Things Girly. Their brushes are kinda unique, they’re thin, small and short so it kinda makes me go back to the bottle twice for each nail on average to have enough polish for my entire nail!

Well, so what’s your favourite from this collection? My favourites have to be Mermaid’s Lagoon, Fashion Friday and Stiletto! Any requests for comparison, please let me know 😉

Chanel Summer 2011 Morning Rose: Swatches & Review

Hey guys!! I woke up to a big rain this morning and the feeling of snuggling up in bed was sooo good. It’s been ages since I’ve slept till I’m happy to wake up!

Photobucket

Chanel Morning Rose is a warm coral pink with light golden shimmer. Sorry my photos look so blue, the colour is leaning much more to coral instead of a bluish pink. The shimmer is outstanding in the bottle but somehow it doesn’t show up much on the nails, which is quite a bummer. I did 3 coats to cover up the streakiness and bald spots. Usually, I always do 2 coats with Chanel’s polishes but however, this time I needed 3!

Anyway this is limited edition and from what I’ve heard, it looks like it’s already sold out from my local Chanel counters :/ I think Beige Petale is still available!

I hope you have a great Saturday! I’m staying home to watch Kungfu Panda with my boyfriend 🙂

OPI Serena Glam Slam Spark De Triomphe & White Shatter: Swatches & Review

Hello good morning! How’s your day today? My lovely morning was ruined by a certain guy because he made me super pissed but I still remained nice and most probably pissed him off too in a sarcastic way 🙂 I’m not gonna let such people bring me down!!

Okay so here’s the second duo set from Serena Glam Slam this year, take a look!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Spark De Triomphe is a light silver blonde glitter with large hexagon glitter and many small round ones in a clear base. This was 2 coats and as you can see, it is still sheer with VNL. The glitter isn’t that hard to remove so that’s a bonus plus for glitter lovers!

Photobucket

Photobucket

White Shatter over Spark De Triomphe. I must apologise for the sparkles and smudges on my fingers. I didn’t do a proper cleanup after swatching Rally Pretty Pink the other day.

White Shatter has the same formula and application issues like the Black Shatter so there isn’t anything much to comment. It does clog up the neck of the bottle so you should apply fast so that the polish doesn’t have a chance to dry up at the top. It is definitely better than China Glaze Lighting Bolt. I don’t really like CG’s crackles because they’re very hard to apply and the polish doesn’t crack that much compared to OPI’s.

I love this duo set much better than Rally Pretty Pink and Red Shatter though because they really compliment each other well.

Hope this was helpful 😉

OPI Serena Glam Slam Rally Pretty Pink & Red Shatter: Swatches & Review

I got the Serena Glam Slam sets right before I went for diving so today I have one of the sets to show you!

I went to PNC Traders this afternoon and they are selling each set for only $19!!! Best deal in the whole of Singapore in my opinion! Lots of places are selling for $20 odd to $30 which is insane. I’d recommend you to go to PNC Traders right now before all the sets are snapped up!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Rally Pretty Pink… I’ve no idea how to describe this. It’s pink in a dark brown base with lots of golden/yellow shimmer. The amount of shimmer is crazy and I love it!!!

I did 2 coats and I am very pleased with the opacity. However I find that Rally Pretty Pink takes abit longer to dry than other OPIs.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Rally Pretty Pink with Red Shatter. I find that the Red Shatter doesn’t really crack as much as the other shatters but the good thing is that the polish is thin and doesn’t clog up the neck of the bottle. Its sheer, like a jelly crackle. Very different from the other crackles I’ve used. In my opinion, I don’t think Rally Pretty Pink suits Red Shatter though. It just looks too weird for me, kinda looks like a gem covered in blood lol!

Maybe I have to try Red Shatter with other colours before I comment any further 🙂

With topcoat:

I just cannot leave a shattered mani without a topcoat. Because I don’t really like matte finishes and I don’t fancy the shatter polish peeling off by themselves!

I hope this review was helpful!

Illamasqua Spring/Summer 2011: Purity and Bacterium Swatches & Review

Good evening!! I just completed 2 tutorials and revised abit for my test so I guess I need a break so here I am!! 😉

Today I have for you 2 polishes from Illamasqua Toxic Nature collection for Spring/Summer 2011! I managed to buy these because of a spree held by 2 wonderful people, Jo and Hydaia from Miss-Jo Spree! Furthermore, there was a 20% discount on all items which was a great deal because I saved quite abit on money! I picked up the nail polish duo because they’re much cheaper compared to buying them individually and I was simply lured to Bacterium and got the duo which had Purity in it too. (£21.00 for 2 polishes in the duo compared to £13.50 individually)

Photobucket

Photobucket

Bacterium is a taupe brown frost with blue silvery iridescent shimmer, 2 coats. I am not in love with the frost finish because frost doesn’t really work on my nails! It’s an ugly pretty colour… I still can’t decide which catergory I’m gonna place this in!

Photobucket

Purity is a type of peach that isn’t a pastel and not under brights, it’s something in between, 2 coats. It is leaning slightly more to pink. This brings out the tan in my hands which I really like!

Photobucket

The application on these were not too bad, in fact they are marvelous! Purity was opaque in 1 coat, I gotta say I am very impressed! Bacterium was on the thin side and slightly watery. I think I might do a third coat if I do wear Bacterium out the next time.

Misa Summer 2011 Paradise Shore Collection: Swatches, Comparisons & Review

If you’re a Singaporean, you would know that there’s an election and voting is on this coming Saturday! I’m still considered a minor since I’m under 21 but my whole family; Mum, Dad and Bro are able to vote. There’s politics talk in my home for a couple of days by my brother because he is voting for a party different from my parents! And… there’s so many political parties vehicles driving around Singapore, blasting their speeches in different languages. It makes it so hard to enjoy the peace and quiet we used to have! Luckily it will be over next week!

Okay, back to the topic! I know Summer is still months away but I have Misa’s Summer collection to show you all! It’s raining again this morning so I shall apologise if you see any raindrops on my fingers, it wasn’t intentional!

From left: Summer Love, Mermaid Dreams, Mega Margarita and Under My Sunbrella

Misa Paradise Shore collection contains 4 glass-flecked polishes and 2 shimmers. All swatches are 2 coats, with no topcoat. Comparisons are all with China Glaze because CG is the Queen of glass-flecked polishes!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Krystal Water is a light blue and slightly metallic, leaning towards teal with blue shimmer. This one may look very common but surprisingly I have no close blues to compare this to.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Under My Sunbrella is a warm-toned orangey yellow with yellow flecks. I love this one! It doesn’t wash out my skin colour like other yellows do and the application of this yellow is surprisingly awesome too! No streaks, no bald spots! MEGA-PLUS!

Photobucket

I compared Under My Sunbrella against Lighthouse and the latter is so much paler. The only difference is that Lighthouse’s base colour is so much lighter. I’d recommend putting on a creme yellow polish as base and layer Lighthouse so that you can skip buying Under My Sunbrella!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Mega Margarita is an apple green with yellow and green glass flecks. This is my least favourite. It doesn’t really compliment my skintone 😦 This polish looks really awesome in the bottle because the glass flecks really stand out. How I wish this is not so sheer. But this is good for layering though!

Photobucket

Mega Margarita is compared against Sour Apple. I know that the finishes are completely different,  one being a glass-flecked and one a glitter. But Sour Apple is the closest polish I have compared to Mega Margarita. They definitely belong to the same colour family.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Endless Keys is my favourite from this collection! It is a warm-toned orange with yellow flecks! Definitely eye-catching and a keeper.

Photobucket

Orange Marmalade has smaller yellow glass flecks compared to Endless Keys and it is leaning much more to coral than a true orange.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Summer Love is a glass flecked fushia pink with purple and dark pink shimmer.

Photobucket

Ahoy! is much more darker and the shimmers are less noticeable than Summer Love. But if you already own China Glaze Ahoy!, I’d recommend you skip this polish because they’re really similar.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Mermaid Dreams is a medium purplish blue with shimmer. I don’t know why but this polish bubbles up like crazy! And this polish is much more thicker compared to the rest of the collection. Again… I couldn’t find any similar polish in my stash. I don’t think I own alot of blues.

Overall, it’s a pretty strong summer collection because all the colours of the summer can be found in this collection. However, none of them are unique because China Glaze have done lots of glass-flecked polishes and there are lots of similarities.

Misa’s formula is slightly thick and really creamy but I have no issues with it. I suggest waiting an extra minute for the polish to dry before applying a second coat because that would not cause dragging.

I ordered mine from Transdesign so they’re avaliable online now! Leave a comment and tell me what’s your favourite polish from this collection! 🙂

OPI Femme de Cirque Softshades 2011: Swatches and Review

This year’s OPI Softshades collection really did catch my eye. First was I Juggle… Men and then I got hooked on the rest of the collection. I wasn’t even planning on getting the whole collection but I’m glad I did! 🙂 So here’s the swatches and review as always:

Photobucket

Photobucket
So Many Clowns… So Little Time is a sheer white with a tinge of beige. At first coat, it does kinda blends in with my nail colour. (yes, it is that sheer!) I did 3 medium coats for this and it kinda looks lumpy

Photobucket

Photobucket
Step Right Up! is a sheer white with a tinge of pink in it. It does look really similar with So Many Clowns… So Little Time but both of them have a slightly different undertone. Big splotch mess for the pinky… this is the problem bottle.

Photobucket

Photobucket
In The Spot-Light Pink is a sheer jelly baby pink. Surprisingly, this became my favourite of the collection! It’s so versatile, it goes with anything! I love that it isn’t a regular creme but a jelly! Such a soft pink… I feel like I want to eat it because it looks like the shade of cotton candy.

Photobucket

Photobucket

I Juggle… Men is sheer polish with very fine blue and purple microglitter. I wasn’t able to capture the beautiful shimmer ;( I don’t like this on its own, but I love it when its layered over darker colours. (I’ll update this post if I ever layer it over dark colours!)

Photobucket
a macro shot of I Juggle… Men

Overall, this year’s softshades are kinda surprising. Normally OPI doesn’t release a shimmer topcoat with softshades but I’m loving that they are doing something out of the box once in awhile! When I said Step Right Up is a problem bottle… it really is. The formula was thick and I felt that the brush was picking up more polish than its supposed to. I also experienced streaking at the first coat too. I did three coats for all polishes and I think that its the optimal number in order to get maximum coverage. They’re very bridal like and neutral, a fresh new semblance after so many different companies releasing loud/neons/glitter shades for their Spring/Summer 2011 collections.

Sorry I was so late in getting these posted up! I wanted to post them right after I got back from Genting but I kinda forgot and it dragged until today.
