Gel Mani: Stalks of Hearts

I’ve recently purchased a few new gelish colours from Angel.Pro from Pinkroom! 🙂 the special part of these polishes is that they’re magnetic!!!! I’ve heard of magnetic nail polishes since last year but this is the first time this year that I’ve heard of magnetic gelish! So being curious, I had to purchase a set to try them out! 😀

Laura was the first customer to try out these magnetic polishes! I did have some difficulty using the magnet but after a few tries, we managed to get it right! She also wanted a certain nail design from YouTube on her thumbs, and she chose her own colour combination! This is the video tutorial that Laura sent me for her chosen design!

OPI Pros & Bronze

The first week of school had passed very quickly and now I have an immense pile of workload. I’m taking 7 modules this semester and I have 5 tutorials to do every week!! On top of that, projects are slowly streaming in for each module. Argh, what a great start to the sem! 😦

Oh and another thing that I’m so excited about is that I’ve finally completed my driving lessons and all requirements! I booked my practical test on 29 November and I’m psyched! I hope I do pass on my first try because its kinda expensive to retake. Booking of the test cost about $180+ which includes vehicle rental and warm-up session.

OPI Pros & Bronze is one of the duo in the Serena Glam Slam set! I’ve already swatched and review the other half OPI Love Is A Racket here. 🙂 OPI Pros & Bronze is a stunning metallic duochrome that changes from yellow gold to pink. It’s been ages since OPI stunned us with a good duochrome and I love this! It kinda looks like a firefly to me, gleaming effortlessly.

Orly Royal Velvet

Last night was pretty exciting for Singapore, most of us were glued to the tv because of our 7th President election results! Even though I am still considered a minor and not allowed to vote, I was very interested in this whole thing. Dr Tony Tan emerged as our President by winning 35% of the votes. I’m kinda eternally voting for Dr Tan Cheng Bok who had 34% of the votes! Such a close fight!!

Also, it was raining the whole day yesterday so it was pretty chilly. Even switching on the fan sent me shivers, lol!

Anyway enough of the presidency talk, let’s get down to nail business!

Orly Royal Velvet is a dark plum with a light blue duochrome. This is an oddball from the Precious collection 2011. My sole intention in getting the whole collection was for this lovely shade. I love how the light blue particles is showing up against the dark base colour!

I had no issues or problems with the formula, this was an exception from the rest of the collection. (the others from the collection was really horrible!)

Nubar Indigo Illusion

I’m in a weak spot for duochromes lately 🙂 so I’m featuring yet another one that I love!

Nubar Indigo Illusion is another beautiful duochrome that is jumping up quick on my top 10 list! This has a majority of blue and green with flashes of purple, pink, coral and yellow! Ahhhh… I can stare at this for hours!

I did only 2 coats but frankly, you can almost get away with one! It’s almost opaque in one coat!

Even though I’ve only got a few Nubars, I am loving this brand! No problems with wonky brushes (ahem… MAC!) nor any formula issues! It’s close to perfect I’d say! And I love that they come up with gorgeous glitters and duochromes, they really know how to win a girl’s heart!

Chanel Peridot

I seriously need a break from studying! I have 3 more papers, so wish me luck! I’m going to continue my revision as soon as I get this post up 🙂

Chanel Peridot is a tarnished gold metallic, flashing hints of blue-green at the edges. This is breath-taking and absolutely stunning. Now Chanel has definitely surprised me this Fall! This kinda looks like the colour I get when my rings touch the water and leaves a green-gold mark on  my fingers. Not exactly beautiful when stained on my skin but this colour looks pretty good on my nails!

The formula was amazing, this was fully opaque in one coat but I did 2 anyway 🙂 And I apologise for the few dents and marks on my nails… I guess my bed sheets like to get in the way or I’m too clumsy 😛

I actually wore this to take my exam and I have one advice. Never ever wear attention-seeking nails because they really divert attention really well, lol.

China Glaze Blue Iguana

Blue Iguana looks like a normal blue glass-flecked in its bottle but on the nails, it totally reveals its true nature, like a chameleon! It’s a beautiful medium blue glass flecked with tiny blue and purple shimmers in it. The purple only shows up at certain angles, which makes this polish a little special than my other blue glass-flecked polishes!

China Glaze’s formula for this year has been rather thick. I’m not a fan of that because it gets goopy at half the time. Also, its a little tricky to apply. I did 3 coats here. It does look sheer in the pics but IRL, it really isn’t!

And because I was about to take off my mani, I finally successfully did a tape mani! This is totally inspired by Chloe’s Nails but I can never do a tape mani correctly after doing a fresh mani because the tape will definitely destroy my base colour! 😦 I’m not a pro in this so that explains the jagged lines instead of straight ones. I need more practice!

OPI DS Magic

Okay… I’m blogging at the time I’m supposed to be working. OPPS. I skipped work today because I was so so so tired!!!! I gave my workplace a lame excuse just to get out of work today 😛 I know I shouldn’t have done that but… yesterday I went to work and it was so busy! Every table was calling for me and I had to take orders, refill their drinks, clear tables, top up their side dishes, set tables… I did things like 3x my normal speed. My legs were aching so badly that they still do hurt right now 😦 I also have a big bruise at my right knee, OUCH!

OPI DS Magic is a royal bluish purple duochrome with lots of shimmer. My camera couldn’t pick this shade correctly. Its so much darker in real life! I really like how the purple stands out against the blue. Again my camera can’t seem to focus and pick out the purple shimmer 😦

Yes I did cut my nails and file them down again. My nails do grow pretty quickly nowadays. I do like long nails but its hard to do daily chores but then again now I do feel like doing some nail art but the space is now restricted. I’m so fickle-minded!!

I hope you guys enjoy a great Sunday! I’m going back to school tomorrow and I’m excited to see my friends and classmates again! I’m just going to stay home and enjoy my last day of my holidays and also catch up on my sleep. I need to wake up at 7AM for school tomorrow, yikes!

Orly Space Cadet

I remember that this particular collection was getting so much attention and was selling like hotcakes! Everyone wanted a bottle of Space Cadet and its counterparts! Being a nail polish addict, I just had to get the whole collection. (I didn’t get the zombie zest-lookalike though)

I wore this polish for the third time now. That’s alot considering the number of nail polishes that I own! I wore this on my 18th birthday. I love how it flashes purple, coral, yellow and green!

See how weird that my tips are showing??? That was because I applied a coat of Seche Vite! Sometimes that topcoat does this to me… 😦 Why does this happen? Totally ruin a perfect manicure.

Orly Catch The Bouquet

Hey guys I realized I’ve not been posting alot so I’ll post pics of my mani! 🙂

This is Orly Catch The Bouquet. It’s a shimmering pink with a slight purple hue and reflect in it! Looks pretty cool in the bottle but it doesn’t really look good on my nails tho! I feel like this isn’t my colour. 😦 anyway application was perfect and smooth and I didn’t have any problems! This was 2 coats and there’s still VNL!
